Strategic partnership beyond products to raise standards in shanghai public hospitals
Hygiene always matters, but in hospitals it becomes even more crucial. When the Chinese Ministry of Health wanted a strategic partner to raise hygiene awareness and hygiene equipment standards at Shanghai public hospitals, they chose to work with SCA and our Tork brand.
Since April 2009, Tork has worked as a strategic adviser and committed partner to the Chinese Government and the Shanghai Health Education Institute, WHO’s network organization in the region.
We have co-operated closely with our partners to devise the right solution:
- inspecting locations with the Shanghai Health Education Institute before installing equipment
- providing expertise and in-depth support in the initial stage of the project on matters such as suitable placing of equipment
- carrying out surveys amongst hospital staff before and after the equipment upgrade on behaviour changes they would need to introduce to make the most of the improved equipment
- providing information material for information boards, waiting rooms and washing stands
- education of doctors and nurses on how to properly dry their hands
- continuous consulting, monitoring the process and development with the Institute
The results of the partnership working are being gathered to act as a test case to convince other hospitals to upgrade their equipment and procedures.
